TCL Chinese Theatre

A historic movie palace located on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, built-in 1926 by Sid Grauman…

Originally named Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, it is one of the world’s most famous theatres. The theatre has regularly screened movie premiere’s since it’s opening, but as eager as fans might be to catch a glimpse of their favorite stars at a red carpet event, one of the real draws to the theatre is to see the hundreds of celebrity handprints and signatures forever cemented into the sidewalk around the theatre.  The handprints often pay homage to Sid and many signatures hold other secrets as well, this handprint of Jimmy Stewart occurred on a Friday the 13th in 1948 and to prove he wasn’t superstitious at the ceremony he posed under a ladder with a black cat.  Gary Cooper on the other hand also had his ceremony on a Friday the 13th but he wasn’t taking any chances and he inscribed the next day on purpose . Bruce Willis inscribed his famous line taken from Roy Rogers famous line “Yippie Ki Yay,” with many more to discover, definitely worth stopping by to explore.
