Crescent City, CA is where we are ending our drive on Day two as we are about to enter the Redwood Forest and we want to enjoy driving it through the day. We have driven over 600 miles so far, this magnificient little coastal town is a gorgeous place to wake up as it sits on the ocean and the edge of the Redwood Forest. This location has been the backdrop for many great movies, most notable were; ET, Jurrasic Park and one of the Star Wars films, just to name a few. Our next stop is at Newport for a little longer stop. This is another great coastal town with a lot of great activities and points of interest. The Oregon Coast Aquarium, Yaquina Lighthouse, Seal Rock, Nye Beach and Devil’s Punchbowl just to name a few…
Another break from the drive brought us to Lincoln Beach and Depoe Bay, the coastal drive is gorgeous and this is another beautiful place to stop and relax…
Continuing our drive down the coast we stopped at Cannon beach to cool off. It is amazing how close we are to this gorgeous sandy beach. Haystack rock somehow makes it even more relaxing here. Cannon Beach is the perfect location for a weekend getaway with an abundance of activities and a large number of bed and breakfast locations right along the beach. Definitely worth coming back for. Pressing on, we are planning to go as far as Crescent City, CA today as we want to go through the Redwood Forest during the daylight…

California Road Trip Day Two, We are leaving Seattle and playing it by ear to see how far we can make it on our second day. Some of the cool stops along the way include Astoria OR. This little town home to the filming of the movie “Goonies,” offers many great activities such as zip lining, ocean kayaking, hiking at Lewis and Clark National Park or climbing the Astoria Column for a great view of the area. When you are ready for a break, you will find many great restaurants and pubs. Stop by Pier 39 for a great coffee with an amazing view of watching sea lions at Coffee Girl or, if you prefer a cold one, Rogue brewery is right next door. This little town is certainly worthy of a return visit…
